Hi!
It have been long time since I didn't posted here. But that's only because I appreciate the time and value people are adding here in commenting and posting. I didn't want to be superficial and to drop images just for having some activity, but don't have the time for paying attention on your input.

Because purpose of the gallery here is for critique, I want to ask for your opinions on the image posted here.
As you see there are two elements that are the main point of interest, the peak in the background and the flock of grass in the foreground. My problem is that those two elements are a little two distant in the frame. At the location there were some constraints when I framed...

I would like to have your opinions on this, does the image work for you? Or on any other issues.

Location info:
Borascu plateau, Godeanu Mountains, Romania, November 2011

I think this is a nice image. The lines of the grass and snow really grab your attention and the distant mountain and sky work very well with them. Nice work.

Beautiful image! I like the composition and the cool blue-purple tones of the sky and snow contrast nicely with the warm grass.

Serban, I don't know what your framing limitations were, but I think you handled it well. I like the diagonals in the frame & how they are defined more by the patchy snow. Really the colors here are what grabs me the most though. The warm grasses against the cool snow & sky compliment eachother nicely. Nice work!

I certainly think this works well. I understand your concern about the foreground grass clump and peaks being a big far apart, but I think the diagonal lines of the grasses and snow create enough visual interest to negate your concern. Altogether a very beautiful, peaceful scene.

I like seeing images from around the world!! I like your photo; as the other people said, the colors are gorgeous and I like the sky, too. There are several diagonal lines that help to pull your eye into the image and the lighting is sweet!
One thing you could try, if you are worried about the peak being too far from the grass in the FG, is to get down low, near the ground. I don't know if that would have worked in this case, but it's something to try in the future. Nicely done.

I agree that the foreground doesn't exactly lead to the background, leaving them a bit separated. There is enough interest in both that the image as a whole holds my interest. I especially like the wave-like stripes of grass.

This works very very well for me. I think the composition is elegantly made. A very good "flow". I don't think that there is a strong separation between fg and bg. Light and colors are very appealing too.

I think the stripes lead me very nicely through the image Serban, and give it some nice depth. I especially like the light hitting those grasses!

Thank you guys, I really appreciate your input. It seems that my feelings worked on the image as there is an unusual element, the grass, in the composition to work with. It is really good to hear other opinions when you have some doubts.

Genny, it is funny that at the moment when I was hurrying to get the composition right, I guess I didn't think too much on the option to lower the level of my tripod. I don't know why  I think I was thinking that I should be taller

The light was really great there, it is the reflected light after the sunset on the grass.

I think the comp works fine. Foreground has a lot of interest. The background is actually a bit less interesting to me. Seems a bit underexposed and less dramatic.

Nice image - I'm curious about the reason for the lines in the grass. Is is natural?

Yes Rob, I wanted to mention what are those  They are sheep trails from the plateau. The plateau is around 2100 meters in altitude. The alpine meadows from Romania are used for shepherding a lot.

Thank you, Tony. Because the plateau is very large, the mountains and valleys are a little bit distant. I wanted to get a nice imagine with the peak in the background, it was looking beautiful when seen in full from the edge of the plateau. But from there it was no chance to get a good composition, so I knew only a minimalistic approach would work. I saw the light on the grass and I knew these trails could be of help.
About underexposure, I think this way the image reproduces better the level of light perceived there by the eye.

Beautiful and one of my favorite from you, Serban. Since I first saw it though, I wondered if a longer focal length (maybe around 5mm more) would have simplified the foreground. And it would have brought the distant mountain a bit up front so it would stand out more. Nevertheless, beautiful as it is and the subtle light is exceptional.

Beautiful, just beautiful! I love the little bits of soft sunlight coming at you. The diagonals work really well and nice depth in the image. A wall hanger for sure!
