Colorful Lichens

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted January 26, 201284 views4 comments
I was out hiking a while back on a BLM parcel near Rescue, CA when I happened on a small oak tree that had the biggest load of lichen I'd ever seen. When I looked a bit more closely, I noticed this red variety as well and thought they were nicely complementary in color. Just had a normal zoom with me so this was a close-up as I could get but I thought it came out reasonably well. I didn't do anything to it other than size it for the gallery and sharpen for the web. I'm hoping for more contributions after I finish Mike Moat's class in 2 weeks. Comments and critiques welcome and appreciated.

I've photographed this same combination of lichen on oak here in Central Texas Peter.
The LP has great details, color, and exposure.
I would prefer a close up with its greater interest. Also, it's harder to compose this from further back in a meaningful way..Just my two cents.
Well done :wavey:

Very nice image, Peter! You worked well with the equipment you had with you. The colors are well captured. :toast:
