This one was taken right about a year ago. My wife and I were in Moab UT for her spring break (my wife is a professor - yup, she is crazy smart) and I was letting her sleep in while I wandered around right near where we were staying. There wasn't a great foreground immediately available, and I didn't have time to sprint to one before the light was gone, so I zoomed in on a butte with a section of sky that looked like it had been painted in. Here is the result, thanks for looking.

Single exposure, 70mm, f/13, 1/40 sec

Lovely image. I like how you added the tree in the LR, I think it adds just a little different perspective.

Probably should be in M&N because of the fence , but a fantastic capture Scott. all the elements give this perspective in my opinion. Well done.

I think this is quite good. The light on the butte is excellent and I like the tree on the RHS as well. I'll add, however, that even aside from which gallery this ought to be in, some of the white fenceposts are a little distracting and might be worth cloning out if you're so inclined.

Thanks for the comments guys. I completely didn't think about the Man and Nature gallery, I pretty much just always come to this board out of habit! Oops, I can repost there, or a moderator can move it. My bad. :)

As for the white fence posts Phil mentioned in the foreground, they should definitely be removed. I finished the processing at 4am and just forgot to pull them out!

Very nice... like the lighting and those clouds are great. Nice job wiith just enough detail in the shadows.

I think you've done a fine job of showing off the butte and the glorious sky. The tree on the right is a great addition. My only suggestion would be to have turned to the right or run to the right to move that tree away from the edge. For me that tree is the icing on the cake of a great early morning image!

Love those watercolor desert skies and the warm light on the tree against the shadow of the butte is lovely. Nice pastoral image. :toast:

I think it is very nice Scott!

The only thing I kinda wish for is a little more breathing room around the tree.
