This is the last in the dive series before this osprey hits the water. This shot was taken from a long distance but it's the type of shot I had been trying to get. You never know where they are going to go in and you just have to go with what you're given. I hope to get a shot that's much closer next time but I'm happy with this for the time being. I will definitely continue to try and get a better image though. Bucket list. I hope you are not disappointed with the finale. Thanks for letting me share the series with you all. By the way, the osprey did get a fish but I failed to capture any images of it. I lost focus when it hit the water and had trouble picking it back up before it turned and flew away. Another day.

Great Series David, I am not disappointed. Love the series. Makes me want to see what the Osprey sees. Will be at San Jacinto this morning.

sweet finale, David, and congrats on the series. I really like the wing position, those outstretched talons and the intensity of the osprey. I'd be very happy to have taken these. :toast:

One of the toughest shots there is in bird photography David and you did extremely well. The bird is sharp with good flight form. Nice BG too. I agree with you about wanting to be closer and thus the bird larger in the frame. I know you will keep at it and get that shot some day. That is my goal as well.

I'm not disappointed at all! Your larger version shows very nicely and the bird is nice and sharp for how fast it's going. Those talons are so clear and it looks like he's going to make the catch right footed. It's also cool to see how close the head is to the claws....no wonder they're such good fishermen! Awesome! Sharon (my husband says "WAY COOL"!)

Excellent series. I like the position of the wings and the focus of bird on what it's going to catch. The talons are ready. Very nice BG.

The flight posture makes the shot for me - looks like a Delta wing and catching it so close to the water really helps too.

well, even if the final act is not in your portfolio, the whole series was very interesting. I like the pose you captured here especially the wings position as well asa the legs/talons. it is also interesting how the osprey fixed its eyes on the prey.
Cheers, Luca

Way to stinking cool, excellent series of dive shots and this one is my favorite by far. The large crop still shows good detail and that diving pose is a dream shot. Way to go, the larger image was a pleasure to view. :toast:
