Tuolumne ice sticks

Some ice formations along the Tuolumne River before Tioga Pass closed. I would have liked to get in closer with a macro lens, but this was as physically close as I could get and used a 70-200 at full length to isolate a portion. Of the miles of interesting icy river, this was the only area I saw with formations like this, small as it was.

Hopefully people aren't getting terribly bored with ice images, but we still have no snow in the Sierra Nevada

Very interesting the way the crystal patterns repeat but get larger up through the frame. Maybe a touch more contrast?

Bored? With images like this, we're inspired and amazed, Robb. This is mind mind boggling to say the least.

Love the geometric patterns and progression of small to large, bottom to top. Great find and wonderful abstract Robb.

I never get tired of ice, and this is pretty cool. Very abstract, even for ice. Feels a bit grayish. Wondering about upping the mid-tone contrast a bit to enhance the textures.

Love the shapes here and the progression from bottom to top Robb. I think it could use a bit more sharpening and contrast... and I'd tint it slightly blue, but that's just me.

I don't ever tire of scenes like this. Great work Robb. I wonder how this would look turn upside down?

Stunning ice pattern / abstract. Love how the relative size of the geometric forms of the ice diminishes from top to bottom. Extraordinary find, superbly presented. Never tire of ice images by the way.

Marvelous find Robb. I bit different from the other patterns we've seen so far. Looks a tad soft on my screen. Additional contrast/shrpening might enhance the spiky look of the shards. :toast:

Nature is an amazing thing, and you captured it well. A little more contract will make it even better.

Love the repeating patterns here as others have mentioned Robb. I think I like the idea of just a touch more contrast, but that's just a personal preference.
