Male Marine Iguana, post-fight with another male. I don't think this one won.

Galapagos
January 2012
Canon 7D
Canon 300mm f4 + 1.4 TC
f 5.6
ISO 500
1/1600
Shutter speed set high because of strong winds and shooting HH.

All C&C appreciated!

Interesting photo. Good sharpness and colors. I do wish its head was turned just slightly so more of the shadow side might be brighter. Does look like the looser of the fight. Thanks for sharing.

You are so right about the head turn, John. 95% of the time I was there in front of him, he had his head turned completely away from the sun. This was the most he turned it to face the camera. He never looked into the sun. Darn uncooperative Iguana.

That red mouth is a grabber. It reminds me of Heath Ledger's Joker in the Batman movie! You might be able to enhance a bit in post processing by brightening just the shadow side of his face.

Does look gory! As others have already mentioned, the image would benefit with a little brightening of the left side of his face.

I was about to ask whether you could have used some fill flash for more facial detail but then I saw this was in the Galapagos (knowing you are not allowed to use flash there).

Nice angle and DOF!
