Ok so here goes some more night photography. I've been wanting to photograph this dock at the local state park for some time now. I wanted to convey a sense of surrounding darkness with the use of dark negative space around a halo of light. Though I don't know the man fishing, I was very grateful he was able to stand relatively still for as long as it took to take this shot. C&C welcome.

The negative space really makes this photo, IMO. The lighting, shadows and reflections are perfectly framed by it!

I am not normally a great B&W fan, but it really works here. I like the comp. a lot. The reflection, the dof, the negative black space all work together very well. Fine image.

Excellent shot and conversion, like the spacing also.

This works really well. I am liking the B&W choice and the use of the negative space. Very nicely done.

Hey Christina,
I like the mood of this but might be tempted to tone down the face of the pier on the left. I think the negative space is just fine!

The dock almost seems suspended in space, a refuge in the darkness of night. Your b/w processing is extraordinary, especially love those pure blacks you achieved. An outstanding image.

As it turns out I had another photo taken with a faster shutter that allowed me to pull out some of the detail of the end of the dock. I was able to blend that photo with the original and this is the result. Thanks for the suggestion Roman.

Don't normally stroll away from the birds, but glad I did for this one. Just lovely. What park is this?

Thanks. Lake Bob Sandlin near Mt. Pleasant, up in the eastern corner of the state.
