Great Spotted Woodpecker

Found this great new place for birding here in Korea on a mountain behind one of the universities. I spotted three different kinds of woodpeckers, such as this (what I believe to be) Great Spotted Woodpecker, plus a few other birds that I haven't identified yet. Shot in a fairy well wooded area, plus the angle was particularly challenging as I was pointing up into a tree while standing down slope.

Canon EOS 60D
Lens:Sigma DG 120-400mm 1:4.5-5.6 APO OS HSM
Focal Length: 400mm
f9.0
Shutter 1/640
ISO400
HH
Cropped about 60%

Comments and constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

Hello Mark

Always Great to see an unfamiliar Species. Good for reference too. Difficult angle & busy setting with branches.

Thanks for sharing.

This steep angle just doesn't work for me. I don't know anything about the birds of Lorea but this does look like a Great Spotted Woodpecker (or something closely related).

A closer crop would be good IF you don't lose too much detail. The background is a little busy but most of it being out of focus helps a lot. Not the best angle on the bird though IMHO. Not enough face. Read my rule number 3. I know it's easier said than done.
