The scene in Death Valley was breathtaking in 2010 after a big rain and snow. I had gotten there the night before, and couldn't believe my luck. I was in SE AZ photographing wildflowers when I read on the net that it had rained in Death Valley. When we got there 2 days later, it was mostly gone. But that night it rained again, and snowed on the Mts. It was a beautiful, clear morning!

I was there as well that year, and it was a great show! The well defined snow line really is a source of interest in this shot. I'm not a huge fan of 50/50 reflection shots though. I think it has to do with the layers of symmetry that the disorienting feel near the horizon.

Excellent image Margaret. The dusting of snow on the mountains really makes this one nice. I might try cropping from the right to exclude the cloud at the edge of the frame. Also, I would prefer to the see the snow with more white tones. On my monitor the snow looks kind of brown/yellow.

Fantastic reflection with beautiful color. I could see cropping every slightly on the right hand side to eliminate the cloud, thus centering the central cloud and furthering the idea of your title. Well done.

Love the effect of the 50/50 split with this glassy reflection comp. Nice work controlling the bright light for a clean happy feel. The layers are superb and I would not change a thing.

The graphic quality in this is very appealing. While it's personal preference, this feels a bit warm to me. Did you try a cooler temperature setting?
