Hunting Coyote

This is the same coyote I posted a couple months ago. He's just using a slightly different hunting technique in this photo.

Canon MkIV, 600mm, 1/1250, f6.3, ISO 640, manual spot meter, cropped slightly on both sides and a vertical pano crop.

All your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated

Wow--great action. The moment of truth so to speak. Excellent composition, great detail, pleasing BG and, most importantly, you hit the button at exactly the right time. I don't think you could have timed it any better. Was the pounce successful? He/she certainly had full concentration on it's target. Good work.

Hi Ken,

Pretty much perfect timing on this one - love the overall body position and, in particularly how those front paws are tucked up. I also quite like the simplicity of the shot. When I look at the larger version it almost looks to me like there's perhaps just a tad too much contrast on the coyote itself? BTW: While I noticed the single piece of grass crossing the nuzzle, but not a bit distracting for me (and, at least to me, adds a little more "reality" to the image) - kudos on NOT cloning that out...

Cheers...thanks for sharing this one...

Awesome image Ken! :toast: I agree that grss crossing the muzzle shouldn't be clone, BUT I would advise to reduce its brightness and sharpness selectively to decrease the eye-catching nature of it.

I LOVE the line of his extended, airborne body. Great catch. I, too, wondered if there was a slight blue cast to the coat that might be tweak-able.

Fantastic action shot and esthetically very pleasing too. The fact he/she has the fur in excellent condition only adds to it. Well done.

Nicely done Ken! I'd love to have this one on my wall. No nits from me. Great COMP, tack sharp, great subject matter and I just love the grey color of this coyote.
