Sunflower Row

Been on the road for awhile but back home now and back to my scanner art. Bought these sunflowers at the market and thought they would be a good subject for the scanner. The black and white processing makes them a bit more dramatic. The feathery leaves at the bottom are from Queen Anne's Lace.

Equipment: Epson V33 Scanner
Post processing in Nik Software's Silver Efex Pro

I welcome all feedback as I continue this journey of scanner art. Thanks for taking a look.

The b&w treatment works well here. All of the twists in the petals and sepals makes them seem a bit warn. The QAL add some additional texture, but I'm not convinced of that being an improvement. I would like to see this without the QAL.

Barbara: I would not have suspected this was a scan from first impression which is a good thing IMO. Marvelous comp and a superb conversion. 2 thumbs up! >=))>

Lovely range of tones and textures, Barbara, and a lively composition.

Barbara:
A very good B&W image with great tonal range. Did you acquired this in color and did the conversion afterwards or was this a grayscale image from the start? I like the sunflower but like Mark, I don't think the QAL contribute much to the image.

Thanks to all for taking a look and your comments. Gary, this was originally in color and then I used Silver Efex Pro to convert to B&W. The sunflowers are fading fast in my vase but I'll try another composition without the Queen Anne's Lace at the bottom. I'm really very happy with the tonal ranges on the petals and the details and I really love the black and white effect. I can't wait for this spring and all the beautiful flowers that I'll have to work with. Thanks again to everyone for your feedback; it all just keeps me going.

This is a way different, and very neat look for sunflowers. They look more rough and tumble in b/w, at least here, anyway; and I really like the look. I also would like to see a version without the leaves, as they look out of place. Great work on this.

Fantastic B&W image, it gives the image a lot of character. I especially like that the flowers are withered. Beautifully done.
