Wisconsin River

Yesterday morning we had some interesting weather and ended up having some wonderful light for about an hour or so. I know by 8AM it was all over and I had just enjoyed the best shooting I have had all winter. I decided to stop thinking about snow and try and capture the winter we are having. Some nice light and a little fog made the difference. This picture feels more like November to me rather than the end of Feb. I made it on the Wisconsin River near Spring Green. I was able to get out to a sandbar and hike up river for a ways where I found this scene along the shoreline. Thanks for any thoughts.

What happened to your snow? (ours will be gone in a day or two). I still like this Nick. The amber grasses and misty background combo is beautiful.

Nick, your image reflects this specific atmosphere wonderfully to me. The natural colors work exceptionally well for me, and I appreciate your composition that invites me to follow from the foreground into the depth. I can really experience the tranquillity of this scene.

Thanks Eva and Peter!
Eva, Our last little snow didn't last long. Temps in the 40's took care of that. Sounds like we are going to get some snow this afternoon and evening. Most of that looks like it will stay a little east of us however, then back up to 50 by next tuesday. Up at my sisters cabin in northern WI they had 21 inches the other day. Might have to head there!
Peter, Yes it was quite peaceful and enjoyable. Kind of cool walking out on the sandbar in Feb. Thanks guys, Nick

Simple but well balanced, peaceful and moody scene. I like it, especially the nice highlights on the river.

Really like the mist, Nick, and the warm colors in the sand and grasses contrast nicely with the cooler tones of the background. The pano format works perfectly for your composition. Really nice.
