Why do I bother?

Sometimes I'll hang out with a subject and take a bunch of photos even though I doubt I'll ever find a use for the resulting images...like this GH OWL. I just love these birds so much and I guess I can't just walk away without getting SOMETHING.

I must admit this image is starting to grow on me.

This bird was pretty comfortable and it gave me plenty of time to find a "cleanish" angle on the eye.

interesting shot, Dan. I like the overall comp with the bird and tree, the colors, and you did a good job getting the eyes reasonably clear. I can see why this would grow on you--I do like this more than I normally would with an obscured subject/cluttered setting.

It does show how it blends in. Nice comp. Good job getting the eyes clear.

Couldn't you just clone out all of those branches? Just kiddin', Dan. A different kind of shot and pretty cool. I can imagine this enlarged and hanging on the wall, where it wouldn't be readily apparent as to what you were looking at unitl you took a closer look. :toast:

A surprisingly effective image, Dan. Is the pale morph more common down there?

Jim, this one was on the East side of the Cascades (Klamath Basin) and they are noticeably paler than here in the Rogue Valley.
