Lesser scaup hen (I think) running along the water before taking flight. I left a lttle more room on the right to include the splash trail.

D300s with 200-400 VR II and TC 1.4
ISO 500 1/1600 @ 5.6 Hand held

Thanks for your comments.

Great action - love the flying water drops!
Good detail, nice eye, and wonderful water.
This would also work well as a pano image, if you have more room available on the left.
There is a small processing "goof" at the lower left edge ..

Nice one Robert - like the decision to leave the splashes, really adds to the dynamics of the shot

Perefectly captured shot with the lighting, the bird coming slightly toward you, and the shutter clicked with exactly the right wing and leg position. Really nice. This is one time when it works to sacrifice the space in front of the bird to keep the splashes in the frame. Particularly when captured as well as this. Thanks.

This is a great capture, great action, everything looks great on my monitor. Looks like you rotated then didn't fill in the blank cropped space on the lower left, easy fix.

Great stop action and timing Robert, a very dynamic image.
I like the wings up pose and it's a good POV as well. :toast:

Excellent timing to get this and if you had a little more room on the left side that would put the finishing touch on an already wonderful image, way to go.

Very nice ''Running on the water'' shot, with a bit more sharpness on the head would be excellent capture.
