Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Thanks to Andreas Resch for his handy web sharpening script, which I tried out for this post:

Just my kind of shot - moving water. The rock shapes with the nice highlights are awesome too. I'm glad you like my script - thanks for the plug.

jon, i really enjoy the comp and the lighting here. it almost looks like two pieces of a puzzle that are separated down the middle. what time of day did you shoot? the greens in the LRC are a bit blurred with motion so you might want to try another exposure next time, if it matters to you. really well done!

An interesting blend of textures and edges. My one nit (a personal objection that I know others will disagree with) is the smoky representation of water. I never have understood why this is desirable.

Jon, the contrast between the clear cut rocks and the silky water is stunning to me. The foliage adds a lot for me, counteracting the otherwise almost surrealistic scene. Great work in my opinion.

Incredible place and the rocks look surreal. Perfectly executed and loved the soft waters, you got it right. The sharpening seems absolutelly worthy of trying. Thanks.

I really like the sculpted rocks here. The splash of green from the leaves adds a nice counterpoint to the image.

great forms and textures. i wonder if you have an image (say of 0.5s) without the ND - it would be interesting for comparison.

There's so much to explore in this one. The soft water and the super-sharp rocks & flora are a great contrast in texture and color. Great composition.

Jon,

I think this is awesome! I know many don't care for the silky look, but I like to consider the effects of the longer shutter speeds against the scene and situation. Here, the near featureless water works beautifully to accentuate the shapes and forms of the rock. The created contrast is excellent too. I like the inclusion of the greenery and would add that it's right on the border of being enough, or not enough. What I mean by that is you've included enough to tell me you included it on purpose.

This looks like a fantastic location and I can see multiple comps within this one, including without the greenery.

I love this as presented though. Great work.

Very nice, Jon. I really enjoy the feel you captured here. The blue in this looks great and I think for this shot the long exposure worked out very nice. I have shot this many times from that suspension bridge but never this tight...I like the look!
Did you do this long exposure from the bridge?

Great image. I looked for this falls last time I was there. Really wish I found it now. Nice composition. Have you tried black and white I think it would really make the forms in this image stand out.
