Loggerhead sea turtle off the coast of Belize. I spent several hours photographing turtles on the barrier reef (the second largest in the world). Fun stuff.

No nits on the picture. The fish swimming with the loggerhead—do they have any symbiotic function, or is this just a moving shelter for them?

Hi Phil, I wish I knew the answer. They stayed with the turtle the whole time I was there.

Nice shot. Don't have any real nits to pick with it. Nice action and composition. The background water is a tad dull but the only way to change that in a natural light shot like this would be to shoot more up which may have ruined the composition. Well done.
The fish are remoras. They're either there to pick up scraps from when the turtle is feeding or possibly to consume its feces.

I love this photo! The colors are gorgeous, the reflection and the partial head breaking water. I also love the fish on the underside of the turtle balanced with the one on top. (BTW, the other photos on your website are also great.)

Hi Ian,
Very nice. Love the colours and action. While I suppose the main "point of interest" here is the region where the head is breaking the water surface, my eye was drawn more to (or lingered more on) the beautiful reflection on the top edge of the frame AND on the remoras under the turtle - to me these two little "extras" really added a lot to this already visually strong image.
Great post - thanks for showing this to us Ian.
Cheers...
Brad

remoras usually hang around sharks: a true indication of hank's evil ways ...
