The Sauk River is North East of Seattle and is a wonderful place to view eagles in the fall/winter months. This shot is taken off of a logging road I found a number of years ago and continue going back. Some days, like any time out shooting, are not so favorable. However, I think I hit the jackpot with this shot as I really like how the colors in the foreground popped, as well as the misty feel of the clouds in the back ground. I really like the depth and how your eye is drawn into the scene.

Nice first post Michael and welcome to NPN. I like your comp here and the misty mountains with the indirect light in the BG are pretty nice. It would be nice if you would post the set up of your camera so we could help you out a little. For instance the mountains are not quite as sharp as you'd like, but I cannot tell you how to improve that without more information. You have a good eye and I'll look forward to seeing more of your work.

Welcome to NPN! What a great scene for your first post on this site. You found a wonderful point of view, and the weather really cooperated to add a lot of depth to the scene. The exposure and processing look really nice, but beyond that, it's difficult to say much about any technical details at this size. Please note that we can post images up to 720 pixels on the long side (vertical or horizontal), and if you like, you can even add a larger version, up to 1200 pixels. In addition to a larger image and some shooting details, it would be nice to learn a bit about your subject. I hope you visit places like this often, and show us what you find.

Thank you Walt and Wayne for the greetings as well as the comments. I really appreciate both! Wasn't aware I could post larger versions but am learning this site. Here is a larger version which does show much more details...

Hi Michael - Welcome! I like this one too - especially the change that occurs in the BG. The FG river is a little too dominant to me - the way it almost touches the left edge, and I think a wider angle, or maybe a horizontal, might make for a stronger composition. I don't know what's over there though. Still, it's a nice one for sure.
