Flow in the Snow

March has been a wild month. Flowers in the woods are blooming earlier than I ever saw, but I thought I should finish processing some of my last snow images before working on those from our recent heat wave. I like the visual flow of this stream, but it's often overwhelmed by all the trees and ground cover. Our early March snow provided the clarity I wanted, even with the streaky falling snow visible over the water.

If you are wondering why I did not include all the stream bank on the right, it's because it's not there. This is a small trib flowing into a steam, which flows off screen to the right.
UPDATE: Hmmm... Not clear? Instead of more words, please see photo in my comment (3rd comment) below.

Yeah, I like the flow nin this scene too. Inalso enjoy the falling snow visible in the reflection. My only nit is that the bend on the right is cut off by the edge of the frame. Would have liked to see the whole thing included.

Nice winter scene. I really like the lineup of the trees from heading back left. Works quite well. It has been a very weird winter just about everywhere.

Thanks guys.
CHRIS: Here's what I was trying to explain. I wonder if the vertical shot would look better or worse if I included more of the stream flowing out of the frame on the right? (I orignally did not include more because I did not want to add too much of the woods over there.)

The meandering stream path draws our eyes towards the furthest point in the BG very nicely here, Wayne. Excellent processing on the image too.....

I think this scene would be better served as a b&w Wayne...what do you think? Otherwise, I really like th eway you composed this busy scene!

I like the falling snow, the fluff on snow on the ground, and the flow throughout the image. I do like this comp better than the vertical.

Very nice Wayne. The falling snow looks nice to me and I really like how the stream draws you back through the beautiful scene. I think you you did really well with the vert comp. Interesting to see the horz as well and seeing how you worked it.

I like your original comp. even without a "bank" the flow of the stream through the image is graceful and satisfying. nice job on the snow, as well.

You've really nailed the snow textures here. Very delicate and real. I like the comp too with the meandering stream through the frame.

Yeah, I think the horizontal is maybe a little more cohesive and offers an explanation as to why the vertical looks cut off, when actually it isn't.

I like both of the views. Nice, graphic image, with good exposure. From a distance the dark versus white graphic effect shows up, and up close, the details, like the falling snow, come through really well. Well done. :toast:
