That I'll find myself standing here admiring this view. Every time I'm in Yosemite, I end up here. Just don't get tired of looking at it. Large version included. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I can see why you'd stand there! Great image Chris, I was wondering if a touch more contrast might make it even better? Excellent composition.

I like this shot Chris and agre that a bit more contrast would help.

The fresh snow and clearing storm really make this shot special. No nits from me on this one.

This is gorgeous Chris! Wonderful detail especially in the larger view. Love the mood created by those clearing clouds.

This is what I call perfect!
Glad you keep going back, because I don't think I'll ever get there, and this is not the typical iconic shot, so it gives me a taste of what it must be like in other than the typical views. Icon or not, this shot is unique. I don't know if it's your POV or the atmosphere, light or snow, but it's beautifully different.

This is beautiful Chris! What a fantastic view. I would be going there often to see this too if I lived close enough! Excellent work.

Although it's an iconic location, this is worth returning to over and over as you've done.
The light always varies from one time to another. You've composed this wonderfully,

Was this before or after you heated the chili on your engine block?? A classic view indeed. Even though it is icon central, I always stop here when in Yosemite and pull out the camera if conditions are decent. It is one of the most spectacular views I have ever seen and I have seen a few.

I can understand you! It's an amazing view! This winter landscape works very nicely with the midday light and the puffy clouds.

Brings back the memories of our meet up right here back in November, Chris. It was great to see you and Lon that morning. A classic view and nicely done too. I think I saw a comment about a slight boost in contrast, I might be worth a try for another look. Otherwise, no thoughts for improving that I can see.

What a classic view! I'd love to get there in winter one of these days, and when I do I hope I am fortunate enough to see something like this. Very crisp and beautiful scene.

a very enticing place - deserving of its iconic status - particularly in these conditions. almost claustrophobic in feel - i wonder if one gets that feeling when looking at it? i love the snowy trees.

Thanks everybody,
I'll see what a little more contrast does to it.

Harley,

Thanks, this was before the chili! Can't beat the odl engine block as a food warmer.

Hey Chris,

Did you shy away from Black and white on purpose? ..Concerned about copyright infringement on " Clearing Winter Storm" . Actually I am seeing some differences, there were more clouds obscuring the background and I believe the trees in the mid ground were bare of snow in Ansel's seminal shot from Tunnel View. This is classic in every way possible...Thanks for sharing.

Paul

P.S. A nice bed of coals in the campfire makes a great "can" warmer as well.

P.P.S. Checked out the referenced Ansel image and there is not very much resemblance after all, but a nice BW conversion would work well.

Hey, Paul

No, didn't think to convert this one really. I might give it a try though.

Here's a more contrasty version below as well.

Chris,

This view never disappoints! Well, 99% of the time. I've logged my time standing in a gray rain long enough to know the1%.

I haven't read the comments to see why some contrast is being suggested, but I think this looks quite good as presented. In fact, I'd say the repost does not improve things. The rock walls around Bridal Veil are actually darker now in the repost. The only teenie nit would be both the small and larger versions are slightly crunchy (sharpening) but of course that's only for this web view.

Great winter image from Tunnel View.

Chris, love the shot. I agree with Lon, too much contrast in the repost, particularly in the walls around Bridalveil. I don't see much to improve, but I would be interested in seeing this in B&W as well.

Hi Chris, sorry for being late.
But I did not want to miss to comment on this one. Just like photographers don't get tired of shooting this scene, I don't get tired of seeing it here - an commenting on it. Wonderful conditions you have captured. The clear and crisp light are so appealing.

I was the original "guilty party" who suggested more contrast! I do like the re-post but its obviously a personal taste thing and I'd certainly happily bow to the greater wisdom of the majority and go with the original version. It's a winner either way :toast:
