Looking for food

This is an image I took in 2010 in Ketchikan AK. I have always like the image but never posted it here before. I actually darkened the BG to take out the trees behind the bird because I found it distracting. When I did that the shadows under the wings darkened and I was going to bring that back but I liked it this way. To me the bird scouring for food is what this is all about and that has become the focus of the image. I also cropped a little off the bottom that was waste. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

This is beautiful, Walt - I love these kind of dark compositions with just hints of light. :toast:

Amazing light. It works for me. Maybe next time you could have the model tilt the head the other way.... ;~) Just kidding. Well done.

My first reaction was too dark and my second "but I still really like it". A different sort of look but very interesting, the more I look at it the more I like it.. Well done.
