Iris Pumila

When rain stopped in the late afternoon today, I rambled with my wife through the nature reserve Thenau, situated in the Pannonian Steppes close to Lake Neusiedl. This place is well known for the flowering season of Iris Pumila. This flower ranges from Austria to eastern Europe, the Balkans, southern Russia to the Caucasus into Turkey.

The colors are nice and the flowers are pretty, but for me the image lacks a center of interest. My eye just seems to wander around and not know where to stop.

I also enjoy the awakening of nature around my area. That's a nice view and it reminds me that it's finally time for myself to visit the Neusiedler Lake with my camera.
The shots isn't your best, honestly. While the extreme perspective split is a nice idea, the foreground is a little to cluttered to keep the eyes on track. There are also some technical issues like CA's and distortions that could be corrected together with a little too warm overall white balance for my personal taste. Just my thoughts - enjoy spring up there.

I think you did very well here actually. I can agree with Andreas overall, but this composition shows your skill in portraying a landscape effectively. I like the wide perspective and the low camera position. The sense of distance and scale works very well too. Light is maybe not ideal on the foreground, but the sky adds some good atmosphere.

Hi Peter, Maybe not one of your best, but I do enjoy seeing this. There is something about the feel of this that keeps drawing me in. I would enjoy walking throught here and spending some quiet time!
