These little guys are all over our hackberry trees at the barn.

They are so fluffy, that as I saw one on the pipe fence, I couldn't resist taking some shots from this vantage point. Hope you like it.

Canon EOS 60D
ISO 100
1/80sec @ f5.6
Handheld (w/help from the fence )

Terrific image. Superb POV, POF, and selective focus. The BG colors are very nice as well. The comp/crop looks good to me. I could also see cropping a little more from the bottom and the left, but that would depend on the final size and how much you can crop.

I totally like it, Lucy! It's really quite amazing. The perspective is great.

I tried all sorts of crops, before posting this.....Cropping on the left, I found, made him look like he's falling off something black. I kept a little on the left to show the "weightiness" of the solid, iron pipe fence. I'm so Glad you both like it.
I've taken photos from fence level for many years, ...I have a "few" fences, and I do like the effect. I have a snow covered fence shot this way (in a vertical panorama crop) in my gallery. Not one of my best, but some of what I look for.

Very well done! I really like the perspective and the limited DOF on this!

Positioning the bright background behind the caterpillar makes this image special. I had to check, sadly it's not a Hackberry Emperor caterpillar.
