MonoColor
by Larry Fischer
This sunset was taken in Kansas 17Ap12 from my back pasture. 3 photos were melded in Photomatix HDR program and then converted to mono in Nikon's CaptureNX2 and the color selectively reversed by position with the same program.
Seems I'm trying to expand the capacities of digital presentation so would appreciate constructive comments.
Nikon D700, Nikkor f/2.8 28mm lens.

7 commentsThat's one awesome sky, but I'll have to say that it's a little beyond real for me. But that's not to say that this doesn't work - I think it does, and you're not making any pretense that this is how you "saw" it. Actually Larry, the more I stare at this, the more I think that it's not over the top, just something different than I would expect to have seen if I was standing there. I think I could actually see a sky series with variations of this processing. I think that might work too.

You were right with the foreground sharpening.
I went to the photo and did what you suggested on the foreground and I do believe it made the photo better.
Thanks for your good and trained eye.

This is not real, of course.
I just wondered what would happen if it was hung on a wall compared with a more natural photo--which one would command the most attention?
I don't know but perhaps the stark contrast would catch the eye quicker.
