Vermilion Flycatcher

My favourite Flycatcher which I have located annually at Indian Wells. It is by far the most attractive male that I have seen.

I cloned out an extended part of that OOF branch that was coming out of its head. Would not normally do that but it was slightly distracting. I am actually not sure if the whole looks better. Also, cropped more tightly than normal for reason of "testing" the IQ of the new Mk III.

5D MkIII, 300mm +2.0X, 1/1000 @ f7.1, ISO800, handheld, golf-cart as hide, shaded.

Wonderful detail, great pose and a gorgeous bird. As long as you're cloning out, I'd try also getting rid of the third OOF branch behind this fellow. To me, 3 branches kind of competes with the bird.
Beautiful image! Looks like the new camera passed your test! Wish there was a larger image to see the detail even better.

Neat bird KC, I can see why it's a favorite species for you. Good sharp image and nice head turn-nice that he's showing off a morsel as well.

A very nice comp KC. The exposure on the bird looks good and the BG is wonderful. Would love to see a larger version to really judge the IQ of the new Mk III.

Sweet, KC. I agree with your judgment on this species, although it's bought to photograph. Looks like the Mk III passed the test.
