I think it is okay to repost this.. from a few days ago. I learned how to add canvas to give her a little more "tail room"........ Thank you everyone for your comments and feedback, much appreciated.

Hi Sally, for some reason the BG seems to over ride the cardinal for attention, at least for me. Exposure for the cardinal is good as is the pose you caught her in. Maybe you could darken or lighten the BG and see how it looks to you. Thanks for sharing.

Nicely lit and photographed; very good techs. Here's a trick for making the bird stand out a bit more against the background, assuming you have Photoshop:
Select the bird using the Magic Wand.
From the Select Menu, pick Refine Selection. In the sliders, feather the image by 1.0-1.5 pixels. Click the K Button.
Now go to the Select Menu and pick Invert Selection.
From the Image Menu, select Brightness and pull down the brightness a bit, usually in the range of 10-15 will do.
When you're happy with the background, type CMD-D (CTRL-D on Windows) to turn off the selection.
