These are favourites of most people as the males flit around with their harem of brown females. A family has taken up residence around my back yard.

Stunning portrait of this beautiful fellow Rob  Excellent detail where it counts, I like that he's facing you and gave you a perfect head turn and raised tail. I might be tempted to remove the oof reed in the background. Great Shot!!!

Rob, great looking bird in a lovely and fitting environment. Not wild about the light reed in the BKG, but hey that's wildlife. Might suggest just opening up some of the darker areas in the plumage just to get a hint more detail out of the subject. The larger image does your patience justice :toast:

Hi Rob.
I always think the almost scaly feathers on the birds head look like they have been painted on if you know what i mean, anyway getting back to your image it looks great and i do know how hard they can be,excellent.

Man that's a beautiful bird! Great image, Rob! I love the pose he gave you, and the details are really good. I agree that the reed in the background is a little distracting.

Rob, love this shot. Great head turn. Great sharpness and detail where it is most important. I think the OOF reed adds to the shot. The way it arcs through the frame, is OOF, and almost joins the cattail at the right all work for me. It adds needed depth to the image as well.
