Wild Flamingos Feeding

I took this shot in the Laguna Nimez Reserve, in the small town of El Calafate, in Santa Cruz Province, southern Patagonia, Argentina. There you can see more than 80 species of birds. It was mid March, and there were dozens of flamingos there that day. They spent most of the time with their beaks submerged in the water, feeding. I stayed there for about an hour, enjoying watching these beautiful birds and getting lots of pictures.

As always, I appreciate all your feedback/suggestions. Thanks!

Nice environmental shot, only thing that seems out of place is the bridge on the RH side of the image, however it was there, so.... Like the saturated colors - all in all a: :toast: , cheers, Hans

I like the overall feel of this shot Leo. Nice angle. A bit of a move to the right to eliminate the bridge would have strengthened this image, but not sure if that was possible.

Very good environmental portrait. I like the warm colors in the birds and water. Good sense of depth in the image. I think the photo could use some ccw rotation.

Really nice image, Leo! I really like the mountains in the background...you know, when I think of flamingos I really never think of them being in a mountainous region  .

Interesting habitat for flamingos; not the kind you expect. Well done.

Hello everyone, and thank you for all your feedback! From all the pictures that I took of the flamingos that day, I like this one the best. A couple of times I thought about maybe taking the bridge out of the picture, but I actually kind of like it because I think it brings a bit of balance to the two large shrubs n the left edge of the image, so I decided to leave it. Except for that bridge, and a few small houses houses a good distance away, and a very small Visitor Information cabin where you can learn about that habitat, the place is mostly untouched my man. I hope to visit there again next year.

Thanks again everyone! I appreciate every one of your comments.

EIGHTY species of birds? Cool! How many did you see while there?
This is a lovely landscape as well as "bird-scape." I think it would have been great if at least one of the birds had its head up. But you don't always get what you wish for... Overall, great shot.

Catherine, thank you very much for your comment. Different species of birds can be seen there depending on the time of year. On the day that I was there, which was around mid March, I mostly saw kelp geese, bandurrias, ducks and of course, the beautiful flamingos. I want to go there again around November or December to see what other species are there at that time.

Thanks again Catherine!
