Flaming Gorge

One of many spectacularly scenic areas the Green River runs through. Powell started his epic voyage just north of here. This was the last stop on my recent trip through Utah's wonderlands. The weather was not friendly but I do like what it did for this view. I think the fog shrouded bg goes nicely with the colorful sandstones of the gorge. Any pointers you can offer for shooting in fog would be most appreciated. Thanks for looking.

I've been past here plenty of times on my way to one of my favorite fishing backpacks. (going again in two weeks) this is a great photo. Clear skies would not have yielded anything as nice as this.

I like this, Sandy. Because of the fog there are no hot spots in the image. I'm not sure
if the red branches in the bottom right hand corner add anything to the image. You
might try cloning it out or removing it with a crop up from the bottom. Other experiments
would be to increase the contrast and saturation a bit, but perhaps that would take away
from the mood. I like the various colors as well as the land formations left and right of the
river.

Ah, I know this spot. Right near the border actually. One of the turn outs?

Scary what might happen to the Green River if that company gets their way. Fingers crossed they don't.

I'm not sure, but something about this image feels off. Maybe the strange contrast differences between the foreground foliage and the background in the fog. Not sure what to suggest on how to fix it. Maybe mess with the curves a bit and use layer masks to control it in different areas of the image.

Hi Nancy Lea, the fog is perfect here. It really lets the colors show strongly but adds some mystery and a wonderful sense of depth. I'm not sure, but there may be a slight processing halo around the tree in the llc. If so, it's an easy fix, if not, I apologize for being overly critical. It's a beautiful shot.

Awesome overlook. Could almost see zooming in and working some of the textures below.
