Wild Onion

Wild onions are not only pretty flowers in the pasture, but they are also tasty treats from the wild. We have them growing here and there all over the property right now..
F/10, 1/300th, ISO 250, 1D M3, Sigma 150mm from early this morning & cloudy.

Howard

Beautiful capture especially with the thin membranous cap. The OOF bg flowers gives color to the image.

I agree with you that wild onions are pretty and we use them in Ikebana arrangements as well.

Howard - One of my favourite flowers from the vegetable kingdom. Love that "Hat" on the flower and the pink OOF elements in the background. Nice photo

I can't personally speak for how tasty these are. All I know is that I love them in my own garden because of their attractiveness, and because the deer don't find them at all tasty. They're one of the few plants the deer absolutely won't touch. I like the separation here from the BG, the color in the BG, and the cute "night cap."

Well composed and finely detailed capture against a nice BG. A great POV. Very well done.

I love the cap. Wonderful detail. They grow up here as well but we don't usually eat them as they are easily confused with death camas (unless they're in bloom). Lovely image.

Nice soft light. Are those thistles in the BG?

For some reason, this tickles me. Must be the "nightcap".

Cute image. I would like to see the small purple flowers darken slightly.

Love this one, Howard. That the onion still has its hat on is endearing. A sweet image in so many ways.

I think it's heading for school on a chilly day. Love that hat and the details in the blooms. I've eaten a few of these.

Nicely captured, Howard. Like the way the tip of the cap just begins to fade into the bg, which looks good with the touches of purple.
