I think the horizontal comp works very well here, good choice Ian.
I especially like the dark BG and light.
Well done! :toast:

Unique and eye-catching comp on this, Ian. I like the lighting in this and how the tulip contrasts so well with the dark background. Beautiful!

What a stunning image Ian. The subtle lighting, petal detail, leaf veins and black BG all work so nicely. I like the horizontal comp. too, well done!

Ian - That Red shade always interests me. There is something about Red that makes most people interested quickly. This shot is perfect as posted even though I tilted my head and tried to see it as a vertical initially. Perhaps much of the interest (apart from the spot on techs) lies in the unconventional composition.

Well done

An elegant and strongly poignant image, Ian, in the horizontal format with the chosen caption. Great control of the light. Lovely detail in the flower. :toast:

Ian:
The light, color and presentation here is just first rate. Took a while to get use to the portrait mode but the horizontal presentation fit with the theme of an aging tulip. :toast:

The color of the flower is really nice. I personally not sure about the composition. I feel a little out of sinc knowing the flower doesn't usually grow at this angle.
