Rowena Sunburst + Repost

This shot is a DOF blend taken this past weekend at sunrise at Rowena Crest. All of the exposures are at 17mm and ISO 1600 on a 5dii. I blended 4 frames for DOF and then blended in another image of the sky to control the highlights a bit better.

Thanks for looking and the feedback!

I love the composition and the light. Nice sunstar which adds an extra interest to the scene.

Very nice image! The DOF I'm guessing was pretty hard/time-consuming on this. The colors and comp look great to me. I do feel that everything (including the distant hills) is sharp and in good focus, but the sky is blurred a bit. Perhaps it was intentional...

Congrats on this image! :wavey:

Beautiful and well done. I think it was mentioned, that the sky does look a bit oof. Either way, it's a cool image. What a fun morning that was!

thanks for the comments guys, I completely agree the sky was a bit off, here is an updated version with a sharper sky. The new sky image was from about 1 to 2 minutes before the main shot.

This is sweet. My only nit is that I want to see this BIG. The sunstar and light through the petals are great eyecatchers. Well done.

Awesome shot Scott! It was a glorious morning up on Rowena Crest and you captured the moment beautifully. Love the placement of subjects in the frame, the rework corrects many of my nits from the first shot.

This is incredible Scott! Definitely one of the best "in your face" balsamroot shots I've seen. The repost looks just about perfect to me (sky is much improved). Congrats on a outstanding image.

Thanks for the comments guys.

@Jared, It was nice to meet you there! It was crazy how many people were there for this sunrise, I really expected to see tons of shots from this morning already and I haven't seen many yet.

@Tom I have a bigger version up on google plus: https://plus.google.com/photos/107682790244897946166/albums/5673650040175132625/5740576116075212002

I always forget to upload the larger size here. Sorry to make you work for it!

@Aaron - Love that comment, definitely made me smile.

Thanks again!

Really like the up close and personal perspective, Scott. Beautiful light and color in the flowers. Your repost nailed the DOF issue. Really nice.

Nice job with the blend. I suspect the high ISO was for wind? Those flowers look awsome.

Thanks guys! And yes, Harry, the high iso was to keep up the shutter speed up so that the flowers weren't effected by wind motion while still keeping the aperture down to f/13 - f/16 to make the DOF blend a little easier.

Plus ISO 1600 on the 5dii can easily be cleaned up with just a tiny bit of noise reduction in Lightroom
