I'm not sure how something this pretty can be called, "Common." These flowers are having a banner year in my part of Colorado this year.

Kind of like this forum is having. I can't remember seeing so much top shelf, high quality, stunning flora photography in one place as has been shown here lalely. Keep up the remarkable work everyone!

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

Good shallow DOF, well balanced and soft BG. I could wish for a hair more DOF ( or an elevated POF) to bring the top petal into focus.

I love blue flax Morris. Excellent shot. I like the dramatic light and the DOF. Very nice.

Morris - Flax Flowers are really photogenic. Love your shallow DOF take on it - even though I wish you got the petal in the 12' O clock position also into the DOF. One other suggestion I have is to lighten the green in the lower left quadrant.

Morris:
Like the soft shallow DOF. Like others, would also like to see the top petal in focus. Like the painterly bg.

Blue is one my favorite colors, especialy for flowers and this is a wonderful shade of blue on this fine flower. I like the way you have most of the main flower in focus with some unopened buds blurred to the side of the flower; makes for a nice comp. The top petal does appear blurred. If the gray blob right on the top of the petal would have been cloned out the OOF petal probably wouldn't have been as noticeable.

Hi Morris. This looks like a Brigitte image, and I mean that as a high compliment. Very light, airy, soft, and with a nice BG. I don't have a problem with the top petal, but I agree with Ram that the green LLC is a little dark and heavy, and detracts from the light, airy mood of the image. I'd try to lighten that area or maybe even crop a little off the bottom to lessen the impact.

Love the lighting and BG in this shot, Morris. (IMHO, would be perfect if that top petal were in focus)
What a blue beauty. This is one introduced plant that nobody seems to complain about (other than the occasional livestock poisoning).
