Lake In The Clouds III: Tall Pines

This is the third in my series of Black and Whites from a wet, cloudy day on an Adirondack Lake.

This is kind of an unconventional composition. I planned the shot as a vertical, but also shot a horizontal version "just in case." Somehow, the vertical version that concentrated on the pines looked incomplete, so decided to post this square one to see what you think of it.

Converted to B&W in CS5

That's a really nice B&W Wayne! I like the square format/comp and I like the way the lighter tree contrasts against the darker ones.

I like this a lot. The contrasts in this are amazing, and the B+W fits this image perfectly! Very nice---and I like the square crop as well...

These just keep getting better. I think the square crop is a keeper. Makes a well balanced image. Very nice

Wayne, I appreciate the understated character of your image very much. Your b&w conversion is convincing for me. I especially enjoy the single white trunk and the dark ones working together.

Another one with nice silvery tones throughout. An excellent comp as usual, too. Very well done again, Wayne.

This is very nice, Wayne. I really like how the gray, bland sky makes the perfect frame for the delicate trees. Excellent seeing on an overcast day.

This is definitely the best of the three. The composition, tones, details and foggy mood are all striking.

The square comp definitely works for me Wayne. The composition is nicely balanced with the leaning trees and the background hill/fog.
