Lots of foliage here, but Momma Cardinal, likes to stay undercover as much as possible.
Shot with Nikon d700 on tripod with 70-200mm 2.8 and teleconverter to make 400mm, 1/200th at 5.6, iso was at 1000

Sally, nice shot of a female cardinal. Getting though all of the branches and twigs is sometimes hard to do. On my monitor it seems to have a slight magenta cast. Also, I find the dark branch right behind the cardinals head to be a bit distracting. But, sometimes you just can't avoid things like it. You could try cloning it out. Thanks for sharing.

Sally, this is one of the clearest bird photos I've seen presented here. It truly looks as if this bird is right there outside an open window. Nice natural perch, a good look from the bird, and great detail in the feathers. Things look as if they are wet so assume the was a rainy day or just after some rain. Nice photo.

Good job on capturing this bird, which I'm sure didn't stay in one place very long. The light looks great, and the detail looks good.

Very good, Sally. I'm especially impressed you got this sharp an image with the some and a 2X teleconverter. The bright leaves on the left are a bit distracting, but I don't see why you could have done about them.

Thanks for all of the feedback everyone, I took out some of the yellow leaves, and did a little work with the light balance. reposted image here.

I agree about the magenta cast Sally. Other than that, I prefer the original to the cloned version.
