Canon 50D, f 4.5, 1/400. Saw these leaves in front of my optometrist's office. Comments welcome. Also if someone can ID the leaves? Thanks.

Look like the leaves of a Cana plant. They range from green to a rust color and have very beautiful lines. Nice job on capturing the backlighting.

Lucy: These are almost certainly canna lily leaves. Were there any flowers? We have some of these in our garden and the leaves are almost as interesting as the flowers. I really like the play of light and shadow and the overall comp. A slight crop from the left to eliminate the dark ULC is an alternative but the more I look the more I like what you have as is. Well seen. (Did you see this before or after your visit? :wink:) >=))>

Lucy, IMO the composition is very good, the central part is also very good but the left side seems to be a bit overexposed and the right side a bit dark. :smile:

Lucy - Nice photo full of play between light and shadows. I too strongly believe that these are Canna leaves.

Many thanks for the astute comments. Yes I agree that the slight crop of black on the left enhances the image. Also, Miro, I tried to very slightly bring up the exposure on the leaf on the right and that also a fine suggestion.
