Crowfoot Mountain at Bow Lake, Banff, Alberta Canada

Dramatic clouds taken just before sunset at an outrageously beautiful location. We (my family as well as my husband's sister's family) were having dinner at the Num-Ti-Jah Lodge when I spotted this and while the food was tasty, I said I have to get out and catch this light. This particular location was recommended to me by a French Canadian colleague of mine at work who has visited and climbed the mountains in this area many times. This was his favorite place in Banff as it is now mine as well as my family's.

Canon 5DM2
Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II at 16mm
ISO50 1sec f/22
Polarizer + 2-Stop Soft Gradient

Thanks for having a look. Larger view included.

Beautiful scene Eva. I seriously enjoy those moment just before the sun goes beyond the horizon. Light on a scene makes such a difference.

Like the light and cloud, as well as the stream at foreground leads the eyes to the mountain.

Love the large version Eva. Makes me feel like I'm there. The clouds add a dynamic element.

One of the most dramatic peaks in Banff and you've done it justice here.

What a spectacular sight! The light you captured is beautiful. Wouldn't you love to live right there? Okay, maybe not in the middle of January!

This would be my second favorite from your trip here, Eva. That first one you posted was so powerful, but your comp here and the clouds crowning and steaming off of the peak make this one very special indeed! :toast:

The even light makes this very viewable, Eva. I like the textures that are found throughout the scene.

The size of the mountain is realized by the ring of clouds and line of trees at its base. Lovely comp with the stream leading the eye into the scene. :toast:
