Paintbrush on Cliff Face

This is slickrock paintbrush (Castilleja scabrida) hanging on a vertical cliff face in Zion NP. There were dozens of examples, but I liked this one because of the contrasting green background leaves.

Nikon D700; Nikkor 24-85 @70; 1/50s -0.67; @f/5.6, ISO 200, tripod

Comments and criticisms always welcome.

I like this a lot David. Love the colors and textures of the rock face and the contrast the flowers offer. I do wish there was a little more room on the right side but that's fairly minor since that area is OOF anyway.

I must agree David, the contrasting greens really make the shot.
Great added interest with the rock strata and textures, nice work! :toast:

I like the contrast of the blooms with the rock David. The colors are very nice too. I prefer this with a tad cropped off the top.

Beautiful shot of an interesting plant in its natural environment. Love the combination of red and greens and how they contrast with the rock. Well composed with a good DOF choice. I really like this, David!

Excellent job of showing the flowers and their habitat. I like how the rock and the plants are mostly sharp on the right and fade into the distance in the left 1/3.

David:
Beautiful capture. Like how the image blur out towards the left and give the sense of been on a sheer cliff. Agree with Nathan about cropping the bit of green along the top edge.
