WC#535 - Alberta Skies
by Jenaya Launstein
Hi Everyone! I took this picture in 2010 just a couple days after I got my first DSLR from my parents for my 13th birthday. They took me to Waterton Lakes National Park for my birthday and I got to break my new camera in on some wildlife and beautiful mountain scenes, but I was anxious to shoot some prairie scenes, too! We had actually headed out looking for some mule deer to photograph after a late-summer thunderstorm, but the skies kept distracting us and we had to pull over and get some shots.
I went down into a roadside ditch and got as low as I could to get this perspective of the fence and show off the beautiful clouds and sky.
I had forgotten about this picture until a recent Canadian Geographic photography contest that had a category for "after the storm." I'm happy to announce this image placed as the runner-up and has since been published twice by them, most recently as a page-and-a-half spread in a special publication on weather!
Thanks for looking!
