I think I would go back for another look. My gut tells me that if you are going to do short DOF shots, you need to fill up or even overflow the frame. I do like the light and the subject. The colors are great.

Too small in the frame for me, with a lot of unused space in the top half.

The blue and yellow are really stunning, but I think I would crop this photo more. The ratio of background to flower is too large.

The light looks very interesting but its effect gets lost in the size of the subject....agree with the other comments to get in a little closer.

Very colorful, Elisabeth. The blue background contrast beautifully with the backlit yellow flowers. A little cropping (ok, maybe a little more than a little), and you have a winner.

The flower and the light are lovely. I could see cropping or a larger subject as others have suggested, but I can also see this as a "minimalist" view provided you can get a more uniform blue background and lose the hint of yellow where the stem meets the frame.

Wonderful lighting here, Elisabeth. I really would like to see it up closer though.

Beautiful colors. Agree cropping dark areas would enhance immensely.

Elisabeth - Another nice one with a complementary blue background. Agree with others on the cropping suggestions. I think even a square crop may suit this better.
