I went back out into the field and tried this combination of the Purple Horsemint, & Sundance wildflowers. I chose this grouping for the Sundance flowers BG at their different stages..
F/7.1, 1/1000th, ISO 500, 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x and partly cloudy with a mild breeze.
Thanx for lookin' & have a great weekend!

Hi Howard. The contrasting purple and orange flowers make a great combination, and three is always a good number. I like the well balanced comp and selective DOF. Only nit: the leaf in front of the lower flower. Have a good weekend as well.

Sure does feel like dancing. The color combo is great and the Gaillardia adds a pleasing warmth. Major T-storms last night, but clear and cool for today & tomorrow. I think I'll try to catch the sunrise in the morning.

Good clarity in the front flower with an interesting background containing different OOF flowers. Great colors, nice lighting, and unique comp. Nice one, Howard!

Howard - Very unusual handling of dual elements in the frame. Not something that I'd instinctively attempt composing. I agree with Scott - that the leaf merging with the flower is about the only thing I think that could have been done better here. I am not sure it was possible though.

Nice composition, unusual for me but very pleasing with the orange reds and purple and the different forms of the flowers. I like how both of the Sundance seem to e reaching towards the Horsemint. If I had one little nit it's that leaf on the lower left in front of the blooming Sundance.

I like the mint, the colours and even BG. I am not sure about the yellow flower, to me it competes with the more modest mint.
