Here's another one of the skies just before the night-time tornado shots ive been posting here and in M&N (another one coming soon in M&N..) I liked the transition of the warm calm colors near the horizon as sunset approached, with the turbulent mammatus clouds above.

C&C welcome!

Sweet abstract. The patterns and the change of hues work great.

That's awesome. Really cool. Maybe a tad too much sharpness on the clouds though, and I'd be tempted to level that cloud line near the bottom.

The color combo is sweet!!! As well as the contrast in textures. It needs a little noise reduction and some dust bunny clean-up, but the simplicity of form, color, and tones is bloody brilliant! :toast:

Wow Stan, This is an amazing look at the clouds, and the colors are beautiful.
Also, not terrifying like the tornado shot. (Tell my what kind of car you drive, so I can get out of town if I see it.)

Stan - Flip this upside down and it's like you are looking out the window of a plane at clouds during sunset. Beauty of an abstract.

No C or C...
Great shot,
You could probably turn this into a graduated filter
Very nice!

I'm loving these cloud/storm shots. I've seen some of those mammatus clouds, but not any these cool!

BTW, Harry, you had me looking at an upside-down laptop here on the couch... Another beautiful image to look at!

Mammatus clouds are suppose to be ominous. You make them look sweet.

Just kidding  I like the simple and abstract quality of the picture. There are some noise in the dark area.

Some more wickedness! We had the closest thing to this as we ever get out here yesterday, and it didn't approach this.

thanks, folks!
After my first post, i was pretty careful to remove any spots from this one, but i guess the sharpening may have reintroduced some artifacts here--will take another look. there was no noise in either shot--i think that just must be a result of the cloud textures and compression--i dont see it on my monitors.

Wonderfully amazing Stan! I failed to comment on your previous cloud image, but these are just outstanding. I'm really enjoying the color gradient here. Very cool stuff. Makes me want to be a storm chaser... ;-)

I'm always nitpicky about this stuff, but even though they're small, you've got any number of dust spots you might want to clean up - if you're so inclined.

Awesome abstract Stan. The upper clouds sure look like they mean business, and I like the way the mood transitions down to the calmer yellow at the bottom where it looks like your typical beautiful sunset light. Great contrasts and tension here.
