Flazing Hill

Just a few weeks ago we were able to go visit some friends in Tennessee. Very fun admiring the dramatically different landscape than here in Colorado. This specific image was taken on a farm, deep in the rural hills, south of Nashville.

Unfortunately, by the time I noticed the sky lighting up, I had no choice but to shoot across a field with a grazing pony and unattractive fences lining the perimeter. "Oh well..." I thought. Who knows when I'll be out that way again! Long story short, I snapped a few images to take home and blend. Here's the details...

Canon 60d 10-22mm @ 18mm
ISO 100 --- f/11 --- (sky)1/13sec. (hill)1/2sec. ---Hitech GND filter

C & C welcome! :wavey:

I like this, Nathan. Simple and very pleasing to me. Wonderful light and soft color in the sky and the tree detail looks great! Like your web processing very much with this. Nice work!

This is excellent Nathan. The sky looks great and I like how you have just a bit of detail in the trees.

What a great sky and like the detail in the trees at the bottom. Very simple but pleasing to the eye.

Nathan,

Never would have guessed Tennessee, but then again, this scene could have been just about anywhere...

I really like this. Great sky and just enough detail in the hill/trees to provide interest, but yet not take away from the beautiful sky and clouds. Simple and effective. Certainly worthy of "snapping off a few."

Quite a nice result Nathan. I like the details in the trees and the way you've blended it. Sky looks great and the color nicely complements the trees.

Thanks for the comments, everyone! Yep, this is Tennessee, Lon. To me, that whole area resembles the Amazon, with the rich, green trees that look like cumulonimbus clouds with their 'puffy' appearance! I really enjoyed it out there, and actually, the day this was taken, I was able to explore my first cave with some friends. Quite an experience.

I really like how the sky mimics the trees at the bottom in shape and form. Real simple and pleasing image. Nice work Nathan.

Nice grab shot. I like the curve to the hill and then the wonderful textures and colors above it. Upper area maybe seems a bit dark relative to the rest of the scene.

Thanks Tony, for the input! I can't quite decide about the upper part. I know I actually lightened some of the shadows a bit up there in RAW, but perhaps I missed something... Or maybe I had the GND filter a bit too high...
