I took this before I even got my boots on this morning. The little fog bank was moving fast so I didn't have as much time as I would have liked to pick my composition. I just shot this from my porch with my telephoto lens. I think maybe the highlights on the bare branches are a little strong but I'm not sure how to tame them while maintaining the contrast between fog and light. This is one of those images I post pretty much as taken and hope wiser heads will offer great advise. Thanks for looking/

I like this a lot, especially seeing you took this in a rush! Definitely a scene worth capturing. Right off the bat, I think the bare branches aren't an issue at all. In fact, I prefer them the way they are. Are you thinking that if you dodge/darken them a bit, they will blend in with the background too much? Also, IMO, I'd be tempted to crop off a bit of the bottom, just below the dark green bush on the left (not the little tree in the corner, but the 'ufo' shaped bush)... I really like the mood this has---glad you caught it!

Nancy Lea,

this is wonderful! And I must say leaps above your previous image. the mood here is terrific as is the light. And there's a much better sense of openness and even loneliness compared to your previous effort. Of course different times, location and conditions...

Agree with Nathan, the bare branches are not an issue at all. In fact I too rather like the light and processing as is. I'm not sure I would even suggest any crop so as to keep that open feeling.

All I can think of though is.... your porch???? What a place to wake up to. I suppose the stream where you find all your jewel abstracts runs right behind the house too?

I think it looks great Nancy, you did a fantastic job of framing this up before the light disappeared. I might suggest a tiny crop from the bottom to just above those green shrubs, just to clean up the bottom a bit. Very minor stuff though. The larger image was a treat to view.

Hi Nancy, I really like this! Wonderful light and mood with this one. Your comp works great here as it is, and I also think the crop that Zack mentioned would be nice. I too like the contrast of the bare branches against the fog just as they are, and especially nice in your large version! This image has such a nice feel and look...and all before your boots were on... Like Lon, I'm wondering where that stream is that you shoot all the time too! You live in a neat place.

One of your top images Nancy. Can't offer any advice. Not a bad view to have from your porch...

I like the compression effect of the telephoto here and the fog. If you want you can take down the highlights on the branches. Use a Selective Color layer, choose white and use the sliders to adjust to your liking.

Sweet! Nice light on the trees and I don't think the highlights are too strong at all. the contrast is perfect IMO. The fog adds a lot to the shot and the composition is pretty decent for a rushed situation, as you stated. :toast:

I like the light and sense of openness you have captured here Nancy. The light on the bare branches especially works well.

This is just beautiful. If it were me I'd do nothing and feel I had one very good shot. And I'd guess you do..
