These colors remind me of a day at the fair, where you might swap a coneflower for cotton candy.

Love to see a background mated with the subject in such an intriguing fashion. The only thing I would change would be the almost in focus head in the LRC.

Oh, yes! What a cheerful, summery looking image. Terrific dof for this and enough distance between subject and bg to make it work really well. I feel that the bg almost steals the show and wonder if the subject flower could be selectively brightened and/or a touch of contrast added to it-- just to pop it out a smidge more. Having said that, I hasten to add that it's ready for show time now! Beautiful image!

Wayne - Pretty impressive background sets off this humble Coneflower so nicely  . As already mentioned, removing that bit sticking to the right bottom corner will help make this frame really solid.

Agree with everything already mentioned. When I first saw this I was thinking along the same lines as Catherine re: the BG competing with the main subject. I think I might try darkening the BG, or perhaps desaturating it slightly, rather than lightening the flower, though. Would have to try both to see which looked better.

The bg makes this image for me. It definitely does have a summery appeal. If you removed the OOF bloom as mentioned by others it would improve this already excellent shot. :toast:

Exquisite, Wayne ! The colouring throughout the frame is delightful, and the dof perfect in my view. Very beautifully composed and executed.

Kill the partial bloom in the LRC and you have a clear winner Wayne. Excellent.
