Got away with the family down to the redwoods this last week. We had a great cabin at the KOA outside of Crescent City. It was nice to see my kids having such a good time after a busy year of school and activities. Without school, homework, Kung Fu, soccer, swimming, and all kinds of other things it was great to see them relax, stay up late and sleep in late. Also great for me to get out in the mornings to shoot and be back before anyone woke up.

This is from a short yet difficult bushwack into the forest one morning. Going off trial down there is surprisingly more difficult than it is in the gorge. It is still steep, but the underbrush is just incredibly dense. It was so green and everything is just so damn big! Thnaks for looking!

Superb! Lush and full understory. Sense of depth is captured by the tall timbers that allow the eye to step through the openings and see more. I might be tempted to mute the bark on that closest tree. Really like the higher foliage from branches with the bark b/g...sweet light, colors and textures. Post 'em big for us who want more.

This is very beautiful Jeremy. It's very soothing to look at and of course I love the greens and soft light. I will be up here in about a month, and this image just got me more excited to leave for my trip.

Wonderful cathedral-like quality here. I like how the scale is a little indistinct, except that it makes me feel small.

Jeremy,

This is so fabulous - so real, like I could just reach in frame and touch something. I think the web sharpening has a little to do with that here. But no matter, the result is just beautiful. No nits what so ever.

What a great shot, and like Tony said, very cathedral like Jeremy. The scale is lost a little, but anyone who's been in this area knows just how awe inspiring these forests are and also how hard it can be to get a cohesive comp. These are the types of shots that may not get a lot of attention on the web or from a thumbnail size etc., but would just sing on a LARGE print. Well done!

Really love your composition, which really brings across the grandeur of these huge trees. As several mentioned, a forest cathedral without a doubt. Stunning. Sounds like you and your family had a great time.

My only criticism is you didn't provide a larger image to enjoy. The depth is engaging.

Your work is amazing Jeremy - thanks for showing this off. Fast becoming one of my favorite areas. Wouldn't it be cool, (and I know it probably wasn't possible), to have had you or someone in something bright - maybe a red jacket - standing by one of the trees to show off the magnitude of their sizes!

Outstanding positioning of every little detail here, Jeremy. Great stuff, even without the fog and Rhodys!

Thanks guys. I was really wanting to get the fog and rhodies, but it just never all came together in one spot. Rhodies were a bit past, but I did find a few really nice patches. That was all though, just rhodies...kinda boring for me. On this shot I had intended to get the fog, and was hiking to were it was. You can see some up there in the top of frame, but everytime I thought I was where it was it was still higher up. I gave up after a while and went and had some pancakes with the boys.

Excellent! These types of shots, as you know, are not easy to acquire. Love it!

Maybe a hair too crispy, mainly up top.

Definitely inspires the feeling of how the redwoods are living monuments. I love this, Jeremy, and am glad you shared it. I feel a road trip coming on!
