Another "Yellowstone wildlife in the road" shot, following Zack's recent bear post. This coyote was darting into the middle of the highway to investigate something in Hayden Valley. What I initially thought was roadkill turned out to be an old glove.

There are numerous traffic-related wildlife deaths every year in Yellowstone and other national parks. Just recently a popular grizzly cub was killed in the Grand Tetons. A lot of folks need to remember to obey the speed limits in these wildlife-rich places. They're slower (35-45mph) for a reason.

Nice image Max, really like the shallow depth of the 500-1.4x combo. The coyote looks confused and not sure which way to go, plus Harleys are so loud, must be a little scarey to have them coming up behind you.

Pretty sad - but a nice image.
Great DOF choice to emphasize the coyote and blus the BG Harleys.

Amen, brother!

That's just a great image that was probably on the fly!

Thanks, guys. Morris, totally on the fly. The coyote was darting back and forth, unsure and a bit intimidated about whether to venture into traffic. As you can tell I was a bit too close for the lens (would've liked more road in the frame, but that's the edge of the canvas pretty much), but I was happy to fit the subjects in enough to tell the story.

Fabulous shot...what a moment and a great title. Hopefully you weren't standing in the middle of the road, as it appears! I love the coyote in focus and the cycles blurred but very identifiable.

Wow Max, what a shot! This is definitely an EPJ type of image for sure.
