Fish Kill

One of the results of man controlling water flow in Turtle Creek is fish working upstream run out of enough water to survive. The spillway keeps creek above it at constant level during summer dry season and the water below the dam runs dry. The good news is it is easy picking for pirds of pray.
I do not know why this Blue Damselfly kept coming back to this dead fish but makes for an evironmental statement.

This should really be in the Environmental PJ, in my opinion.

Very unique image Rick, can't say that I've ever seen a "damsel in distress" like this before:wink:
They will perch on just about anything in their watery environment it seems.
I like the full shadow cast of the damsel and the spotlit look.
I also like the iridescent colors of the scales that add good interest.
Phil may be correct, it might fit better under the EPJ heading.
Well done :wavey:

A very somber photo showing how subject they are to water flow. I like the dark lighting which accentuates the death of the fish, yet still shows good detail.

The harsh, dramatic lighting is effective.

Congrats on the WP - sad, but telling.

Excellent image. Thanks for the explanation, but even without it this tells a story, albeit a sad one. Even as sad as the situation may be, there's certainly beauty within the image - the varied colors, textures, composition is very nice, and lighting is as well. Well deserved WP.
