From my last Helgoland tour in April this year, is this Shy Gannet. I took photo against the sun reflecting in the see, because I was on higher place then the bird. For adding a bit of color i used Singh-Ray gold&blue polariser. Nikon D300 with 70-200 VR lens at 200mm, 360 ISO, 1-350s and f/4,0.
I like the reflection and also the position of the bird but i am open to suggestions how to improve it.

Best regards, Gorazd

A very dreamy, sweet, shot, Gorazd. The pinkish cast here is very calming. To make the bird stand out a little more with additional detail and to reduce the specular reflections in the rock, you could lower the exposure on both bird and rock just a bit. However, you need to be careful to not lose that nice overall look.

Love this! Great pose from the gannet, and wonderful use of the B&G. I've never known what to do with mine..everything looked just weird.
This is very artistic.
My only suggestion would be to darken the rocks a bit, as they compete a little with the bird and sea.
Excellent!

Sorry, not for my taste with the colored polariser. Perhaps better posted in Photo Art for that reason?

Sandy and Steve covered everything I thought of, except maybe a crop on the right, which might remove the OOF rock in the LRC and some of the specular highlights on that side.

Beautiful shot. I like the back ground. Same suggestion on darkening the rock as others.
