Very nice bg, I think the image is hurt a little bit by the harsher light and lack of a catchlight in the eye. You could zoom in on the eye, use the lasso tool to select just the eye and do a selective levels adjustment to it to try to bring more light into the eye. Welcome to NPN and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your photos. :toast:

I recall the yearly search to find one of the few still breeding in NJ each year when I lived there, but usually we'd get just distant views and often in high grass. I've always wanted to see one on a post like so many photos show them.

I like the composition but agree about the tough light. I'd pull back on the green saturation a little, and I'd watch the sharpening as the greens show an unexpected texture in the larger version.

Nice, John. I agree with Rich's comment on sharpening. I'm seeing a brighter green fringe on the barbed wire and that's often caused by sharpening-though sometimes it just seems to happen. I'd think about rotating the image to the right a bit. All the angles make it look tilted to the left.
