My name is Jamie and I am a wildlife photographer living in British Columbia Canada. I moved to Canada five years ago from the UK and over the last two year I have developed a love for bear photography.
I took this image of a young black bear last spring at 7:13pm.
Canon 7D w/ 400mm F5.6 @ F5.6, 1/640, ISO 1250 - tripod mounted.

21 commentsWelcome to NPN - and to the Wildlife Gallery in particular. And, from a personal perspective, always nice to see a fellow BC wildlife photographer come on-board (I'm from the East Kootenays myself). As a lover of bear photography you couldn't live in a much better place!
Nice tender expression on this cub's face. Eye contact is strong and I really like how the coat has tinges of brown showing through - you wouldn't see that unless the exposure was spot-on. The diagonal flow of the line of grasses, and of the cub itself when in this pose, works well for me. Overall a very strong first post - looking forward to seeing more from you (both images and comments on images!) in the future.
Cheers...
Brad
PS: I was wondering if you were the same Jamie - now that I see Steve's response I have it figured out. Good to see you jumping in - welcome aboard (again!).
The PS looks much better on this one, making it look cool. Like the angle & setting.
Have you taken the plunge yet on the kit, Rachel has on the body.
Well done.

Great to see you on here too. Welcome!
Thanks again and I'll remember to post larger next time.
Steve, I just sent you an email.

This is a fine image - great pose and very tough to get a bear's head up enough to catch the eyes -
very fine detail and nice framing of the head by the grasses.

Excellent POV, color, exposure, and details from what I can see at this size.
Looks like grass on the bears mouth, do they eat the stuff? I didn't think so..
Nicely done & welcome to NPN
